Dance Floor Etiquette

Country-western partner dances travel in a counter-clockwise direction. Believe it or not, there are lanes for dancing! Faster dancers stay in the outside lane of the circle, and slower dancers stay to the inside.

Line dance and stationary dances (swing, cha cha, etc.) have priority in the center of the dance floor.

For safety's sake, enter and leave the dance floor quickly, and never stop to have a conversation on the dance floor. Beverages are not allowed on the dance floor.

Always thank your partner for the pleasure of the dance, and escort them off the floor.

     Two-Step and Line Dances

Everyone has to take dance lessons to learn to dance properly, so never feel inferior because you need some instruction.

Our dance lessons are FREE as they are included in any admission donation.

Usually dance groups have instructors available at most dance events. Our resident instructors are always happy to review a classic or teach what you'd like to learn.  Please be aware there are thousands of dances, so they may not already know the particular dance you want to learn, but they are willing to learn new dances in order to teach you.

Beginners will find the first hour of any dance the best time to work. Our instructors will help you fine-tune steps that are still not clear.

ANGELS: Angels are experienced dancers who are willing to assist new dancers with support and instruction if the instructors are otherwise busy.  Feel free to ask for assignment of an angel and the rest is history!

Above all -- HAVE FUN! This is dancing and it is meant for your enjoyment. Dancing takes time to master, and your best bet is to attend as many dance opportunities as you can comfortably and practice, practice, practice!
